New! Winter in Yellowstone
Yellowstone National Park, USA - February 2026
A tour led by Danny Green and Stan Tekiela of Natures Images to Yellowstone Park, USA in what should have been the depths of winter. However, this year the winter was unusually mild and dry, with bright sunny days and temperatures often above freezing. The sunshine also hindered our photographic efforts causing harsh shadows and loads of thermal shimmer, making many days unproductive. Thankfully towards the end of the trip we had a couple of colder snowy days on which most of these images were taken. My principal aim was to see wolves, and we had a number of encounters with the Wapiti Lake Pack, but most were brief and distant. However we finally had a close encounter for a short while towards the end of the trip! There were also many other wildlife highlights included a series of nice encounters with Bison, Coyote and Red Fox, and a memorable sighting of a Long-tailed Weasel in its winter coat of ermine! A slow trip hindered by unseasonal weather, but with a few good sightings.
My thanks to the team at Natures Images and tour leader Danny Green for running a wonderful trip.
