New! Maned Wolves in Brazil's Cerrado

Maned Wolves in the Cerrado at Trijunção, Brazil - June 2022

The Cerrado is a vast tropical savanna region of Brazil which comprises scrubby bushes and grasslands. Home to a number of predators including Jaguars and Pumas, I went specifically in search of one of Brazil's most charismatic predators, the Maned Wolf. The animal is mainly active in the twilight hours ("crepuscular") and at night ("nocturnal"), so most of the photos were taken in the dark using a spotlight. I spent 6 nights at a beautiful lodge, Pousada Trijunção, going out on twice daily games drives in search of the Wolves. During the day I was able to photograph some very endearing Marmosets in the lodge grounds. My thanks to Fred Tavares of Brasil Aventuras for organising and expertly guiding me on this trip.
