New! Arctic Foxes, Iceland

Arctic Foxes in Hornstrandir Nature Reserve, Iceland
February 2020

A fantastic Natures Images trip, superbly led by Terry Whittaker and Danny Green, to the north western fjords of Iceland to photograph Arctic Foxes. We stayed 5 nights in an extremely remote but comfortable old farm house, situated right on the coast, accessible only by boat. These foxes are mostly the "Blue Morph", a colour that is excellent camouflage for foraging on the rocky shores here - in fact, when they went onto the beach, they are almost impossible to see, as they blend in so well with the colours of the local stone.
We could not have hoped for a better combination of weather for our visit! Starting with a beautiful sunny day, but then on the following days heavy snowfalls and blizzard conditions - in fact dream weather for us to photograph these small but hardy predators. All in all a hugely successful short trip, my thanks to Natures Images and the two guides who worked tirelessly to make it such a success.
